THE ARAN ROOF TENT

When deciding on the design for our Aran Roof tent, durability was our principle concern. We wanted to ensure that our roof tents would go above and beyond the expectations of our customers. The Aran’s simple and convenient opening mechanism (4 hinges and 2 gas powered stainless steel struts) greatly enhances its durability when compared with other roof tent designs, while it’s modular construction allows for parts to be easily replaced if damaged. The tent’s canvas can also be removed for cleaning, maintenance and winter storage.
Strength Built in.
The Aran’s performance is shaped by the design of its opening hardware and the specification of its outer and inner fabrics. Stainless steel opening struts are paired with a simple, robust hinge system along one side of the shell, forming a controlled clamshell design that reduces strain, enhances wind resistance and simplifies deployment compared to vertically lifting alternatives. The 280g rip-stop canvas forms the primary tent body with strength and breathability, while a 420D rainfly adds additional shelter against wind and rain. A quilted thermal insulation layer lines the interior, improving heat retention in cold weather conditions.

Protection from the elements is only part of the equation; comfort, light control and practical organisation define how it performs over consecutive nights. The interior layout, insulation and integrated features are designed with regular use in mind, creating a space that remains functional, calm and consistent in changing conditions.
Project Vertical
In November 2024, endurance athlete Jonnathan Pain spent 15 days living in an Aran Roof Tent in the Scottish highlands as he climbed Ben Nevis 32 times consecutively in order to accumulate 26.2 miles of vertical gain:
15 days climbing Britain’s highest mountain,over and over again, to achieve 32 summits The vertical gain adding to the distance of a marathon (42195m) Working 15-22 hours a day, all completely self supported. The only way to remain true to the project was to never leave the hill. This meant i’d be sleeping in a tent for the entire time. which. in turn. meant that the choice of tent needed to allow me to be as comfortable as possible as well as standing up to everything the Scottish Highlands could throw at me. This is where wilder stepped in. It dealt with the, sometimes horrendous, weather with ease, keeping me safe, warm and dry .. Serving, alongside the truck, as essentially my home for 15 days, I don’t think I could have experienced a better outcome.
