The hills are dotted with abandoned lead mines and derelict stone buildings, and until around 150 years ago, local livestock herders practiced transhumance\u2014the seasonal migration of livestock up and down the mountains. The routes vary from moderate walks along the valley floor to more strenuous hikes up the steep slopes, offering something for every level of
